Every community composter is well within their rights to decide what they will and will not accept, but I find that simply crushing the eggshells when you add them has them break down speedily at the regular pace of the overall pile. Usually the first sign I have of aphids is ants. If I see a lot of ants I know they've started an aphid farm. Unfortunately I've never successfully attracted ladybugs so have always had to bring them in before my plant is killed.

am feeling shy to ask but considering our concern invested might there be a potential for a compost tea or extract suitable for supporting Milk Weed oops, probably spelled milkweed. Milkweed? I do not know it by sight but only if I happen to cause a weed stem to break and it secrets "milk." I support any roots is better than no roots unless they are grass burrs or an equivalent ouch weed.

I have a semi pet armadillo who ruined one of eight watermelon vines starting late.
Still, he came up to my foot yesterday with me and seemed oblivious to me reaching out to pet him/her? but upon physical contact he/she blasted off like a rocket.
Will you share some info about scale? Do the same theories apply? From my research the only insect that feeds on scale are ants and … that’s not helpful.
I wish I knew much about scale! I think the same theories do apply, though, which is that manual management & some patience (plus attracting natural predators) can be a great solution. Why are ants a problem for you?
I think the biggest lesson for me here was simply shifting my perspective on what “success” with plants even looks like - losing my plants to support a thriving insect population is okay with me now. I don’t know specifically what youre trying to grow or what your circumstances are, of course!
