I am trying to find the words to express how much I enjoyed this particular post. I think it was from the way you had contact with the people on this island, your thoughtful prose, you helping solve a composting toilet problem, the pictures and….everything. My wish is to have everyone read your column to help educate and move beyond our wasteful ways. I thought I had a pretty good picture of recycling and composting but you never fail to educate me in a new way. I think you touch many in this way. Kudos!
Seeing big black plastic bags of leaves and grass trimming sitting on the curb for landfill pickup breaks my heart. It would be nice if island mindset were everywhere.
I love that "Spend it all" quote. Just added The Humanure Handbook to my reading list (perfect time to read a composting book with fall hitting and the garden winding down).
